As a reminder, Canonical has recently released the Ubuntu Touch OTA-8.5 hotfix and is working at implementing new changes at the OTA-9 update, which is scheduled for release on January 2016.
Right now, the Ubuntu developers are struggling to fix some Mir-related issues and cannot implement new features because of some build issues to the new GCC 5.3.
Because the winter holidays are coming, the Ubuntu devs will take a two-week break from the Ubuntu Touch development and will drop the development until now.
As a reminder, Ubuntu Touch is the mobile version of Ubuntu and comes pre-installed on Bq Aquaris E5, Bq Aquaris E4.5 and Meizu MX4, but is also officially supported on Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.
