Elementary OS 0.3.1 Has Been Released

Elementary OS 0.3 has been downloaded by 5 million users, being among the most popular Ubuntu fork.

Recently, Elementary OS 0.3.1 Freya has been released being based on Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Trusty Tahr and Kernel 3.19. Also, it brings an enhanced interface, bug-fixes, updated translations, under the hood improvements for Midori, redesigned System Settings, an updated version of Files (Nautilus fork), a new “Window Dodge” hide mode for Plank Dock, better hardware support and a bunch of new fixes. The official announcement:

“We’re very proud to share some elementary OS download stats as well! So far, elementary OS has been downloaded and estimated 5 million times. Of those downloads, we’re seeing that almost 70% are coming from Windows and OS X. So, ‘Welcome and congratulations!’ to the over 3 million new users of an open source operating system
