How To Install FlightGear 2.12 / FlightGear 2.10 On Ubuntu And Linux Mint Via PPA

Hello Linux Geeksters. In this article I will show you how to install both FlightGear 2.10 and FlightGear 2.12 on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.

As you may know, FlightGear is the most popular, open-source, flight simulator, running on Linux.
It is a realistic game, being played by both normal users and future airline pilots, because of its accurate details. It allows the user to fly aircrafts, helicopters, airliners or modern combat aircrafts on many tracks. More information and screenshots can be found on worldofgnome.

The latest stable FlightGear version is FlightGear 2.10, available via PPA. FlightGear 2.12 stable will be officially released in 52 days.

But FlightGear 2.12 is also available in a bleeding edge PPA, but it is unstable, since it is still under development.

How to install FlightGear 2.12 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:saiarcot895/flightgear-edge
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install flightgear

How to install FlightGear 2.10 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:saiarcot895/flightgear
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install flightgear
