Hello Linux Geeksters.
In this article I will show you how to convert Linux Mint Debian Edition, LMDE to Debian Wheezy Stable. Because LMDE is Debian based, converting it to Wheezy is not that difficult.
All you have to do is:
Empty the sources.list file:
$ sudo > /etc//etc/apt/sources.list
Paste the following repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org wheezy main non-free
#Oracle VM VirtualBox
deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian wheezy contrib non-free
Delete /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dropbox.list to avoid complications (the dropbox repo can be added later, by hand):
$ sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dropbox.list
$ sudo rm /etc/apt/preferences
Also delete /etc/lsb-release:
$ sudo rm /etc/lsb-release
$ sudo apt-get remove mintsystem
Update and Upgrade:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
This is everything. After you reboot, if you cat /etc/issue, you should get: Debian GNU/Linux 7.0 \n \l.
