How to Install Additional Drivers in Ubuntu 13.04 from the GUI

Hello Linux and Unix Geeksters.

In this article i will show you how to easily install the additional drivers from the graphical user interface, on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail.

I prefer the commandline interface, but there are things that can be easier done from the GUI.

On Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, you will not find anything when search for “additional drivers” in the Unity Dash, because the they have been moved to Software & Updates.

So, let’s start.

To install Additional Drivers, press the Meta Key (Windows Key) and search for software, like in my print screen.

so

Once you have opened the Software Sources, click on the Additional Drivers tab, like in the following printscreen:

This is it. Enjoy.

Thanks geekster, I was having trouble finding additional drivers. I find that my desktop fans run noisily and at a very high speed when I use the open source ati driver…Now that i’ve installed the proprietary one It’s peaceful again. Thanks
