Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the Music App created for Canonical’s Ubuntu Touch is convergence-ready, meaning that it can be used on both desktop and mobile phone.
While Music App 2.0 is still under development, it already includes all the basic features like: list of albums and artists, playlist management or search bar.
To see the Music App in action, running on Ubuntu desktop, watch the below two videos:
So, to install Music App 2.0 on either Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn or Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, you have to add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the music-app package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vthompson/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install music-app
Optional, to remove music-app, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove music-app
