How To Install And Test Ubuntu Touch Music App On Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander And Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the Ubuntu Touch Core Apps, is project created by third party developers under the supervision of the Ubuntu developers, for the Ubuntu Touch, the Ubuntu operating system for mobile phones.

Part of the Ubuntu Touch Core Apps project is also Music App, which will be the default music application running on the mobile version of Ubuntu. The latest version available is Music App 0.7, which has been released a while ago.

Among other changes, it comes with interface improvements, with a blurred background replacing the red-to-purple Ubuntu specific old backgroud.

Since it is available via PPA, installing and testing Ubuntu Touch Music App 0.7 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail is easy. We also need to install the Ubuntu SDK, which is available via another third party PPA. Follow these instructions exactly, in order to get a successful installation:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/daily
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-sdk music-app
