How To Install Budgie Desktop v1.19 On OpenSUSE 13.1 And Fedora 20

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Budgie Desktop is an open-source desktop environment used by default on Evolve OS, which is an OpenSUSE derivative system. Being lightweight, Budgie desktop is a good alternative for old computers and computers using the ARM architecture. Also, it has support for Wayland,┬áRed Hat’s system compositor. The latest version available is Budgie Desktop v.1.19, which has been recently released.

In this article I will show you how to install Budgie Desktop on Fedora 20 and OpenSUSE 13.1.

Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Budgie Desktop on Fedora 20:

$ sudo su
# cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
# wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ikeydoherty:evolve/Fedora_20/home:ikeydoherty:evolve.repo
# yum update
# yum install budgie-desktop

How to install Budgie Desktop on OpenSUSE 13.1:

$ sudo su
# zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ikeydoherty:evolve/openSUSE_13.1/home:ikeydoherty:evolve.repo
# zypper refresh
# zypper install budgie-desktop
