How To Install California 0.4 On Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Fedora 21, Fedora 20 And Derivative Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, California is a calendar app created by the Yorba developers for GNOME 3. The latest version available is California 0.4, which has been recently released, coming with small changes:

  • Fix UI issue where date span of event could not be reduced
  • Add ftp, ftps support for WebCal
  • Update translations

Most likely, California 0.4 will be integrated in GNOME 3.16, which should get released tomorrow.

In this article I will show you how to install California 0.4 on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2, Fedora 21 and Fedora 20 systems.

For Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivatives, the California Calendar 0.4 is available via the Yorba PPA, so installing it is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the california package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yorba/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install california

Optional, to remove california, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove california

For Fedora 20 and Fedora 21, California 0.4 is available via repository, so installing it on the latest Fedora systems is easy. Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install the California Calendar 0.4 on 32 bit (i386) and 64 bit (x86_64) Fedora 21 systems:

$ sudo wget https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/nedrichards/California/repo/fedora-21/nedrichards-California-fedora-21.repo -O /etc/yum.repos.d/california.repo
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum install california

Optional, to remove california, do:

$ sudo yum remove caliornia

How to install the California Calendar 0.4 on 32 bit (i386) and 64 bit (x86_64) Fedora 20 systems:

$ sudo wget https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/drahnr/california/repo/fedora-20/drahnr-california-fedora-20.repo -O /etc/yum.repos.d/california.repo
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum install california

Optional, to remove california, do:

$ sudo yum remove california
