Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Chromium is an open-source version of Google’s Chrome browser. While Chrome does not come with any proprietary drivers pre-installed, Chromium uses the Pepper Flash Player Plugin and comes with multimedia codecs and PDF readers.

Chromium is available in three versions: stable, beta and dev, each of this version being easily installable on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and other derivative systems via PPA.

How to install Chromium Stable on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS:

Because Chromium stable is available via the default repositories, all you have to do is update the local repository index and install the chromium package. Like this:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

How to install Chromium Beta on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS:

For installing Chromium Beta, we have to use a third party PPA: ppa:saiarcot895/chromium-beta

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:saiarcot895/chromium-beta
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

How to install Chromium Dev on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS:

For installing Chromium Dev, we have to use a third party PPA: ppa:saiarcot895/chromium-dev

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:saiarcot895/chromium-dev
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
