How To Install Cinnamon On Debian Wheezy

In this article I will show you how to install the Cinnamon Desktop Environment on Debian Wheezy.

Step 1. Add the Cinnamon Repo:

Add the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import

Step 2. Update the system:

$ sudo apt-get update
OR:
$ sudo aptitude update

Step 3. Install Cinnamon:

$ sudo apt-get install linuxmint-keyring install cinnamon cinnamon-session cinnamon-settings
OR:
$ sudo aptitude install linuxmint-keyring install cinnamon cinnamon-session cinnamon-settings

This is it. Reboot and choose Cinnamon from the grafical menu:

    Thanks.It worked.It included Cinnamon 2D and it kept GNOME and GNOME 2D too.

    Remember to install linuxmint-keyring so that user isn’t scared by unsigned packages.
