How To Install Darktable 1.4.2 On Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS And Elementary OS Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. Darktable Description, from the official site: Darktable is an open source photography workflow application and RAW developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them. It is released under the GNU General Public Licence and works for Linux, OS X and Solaris.

The latest version available is Darktable 1.4.2, which has been recently released.

In this article I will show you how to install Darktable 1.4.2 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Isis and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Darktable 1.4.2 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the darktable package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install darktable

Optional, to remove Darktable, do:

$ sudo apt-get install darktable
