Hello Linux Geeksters. DigiKam is a photo management application, designed for importing, organizing and exporting digital photos to your computer. It has a simple and fast interface. It also has a quick Image Editor,and allows you to comment, rate, correct or alter photographies.
The latest version available is DigiKam 4.2.0, which has been recently released. Changes, from the official changelog:
- New view on left sidebar to search quickly items with assigned Labels.
- On tags tree-view a new option to show items with no tag.
In this article I will show you how to install DigiKam 4.2.0 on Kubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17 KDE and other Ubuntu 14.04 derivative systems using KDE as the default desktop environment.
Because it is available via PPA, installing DigiKam 4.2.0 on Kubuntu 14.04 and Linux Mint 17 KDE systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the digikam package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:msylwester/digikam
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam
Optional, to remove digikam, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove digikam
