How To Install dmMediaConverter 1.0 On Ubuntu 14.04, Debian Jessie, Debian Wheezy And Derivatives

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, dmMediaConverter is a free, cross-platform FFmpeg frontend.

Main features:

  • convert any subtitle format into – srt, ass, ssa, mov_text, dvdsub
  • add multiple streams into one mkv, mp4 or any other container known by ffmpeg that accepts multiple streams
  • stream profiles – create and apply audio and video profiles
  • merge files with the same properties and different kind of files
  • split a file by given time points (no reencoding)
  • bulk convert files using stream profiles or manual settings (no filter options for manual)
  • job queue – you can add multiple tasks into a job queue

  • scaling – change video resolution (use -1 for keep aspect ratio)

In this article I will show you how to install dmMediaConverter 1.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Peppermint Five, Deepin 2014, Linux Lite 2.0, LXLE 14.04, Debian Jessie and Debian Wheezy.

Because it is not available via any repository or ppa, we have to download the deb package from the developer’s Google Drive.

How to install dmMediaConverter 1.0 on 32 bit Ubuntu, Debian and derivative systems:

Download the dmmediaconverter_1.0.0_i386.deb file from here.

Install it via gdebi:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ sudo gdebi dmmediaconverter_1.0.0_i386.deb

How to install dmMediaConverter 1.0 on 64 bit Ubuntu, Debian and derivative systems:

Download the dmmediaconverter_1.0.0_amd64.deb file from here.

Install it via gdebi:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ sudo gdebi dmmediaconverter_1.0.0_amd64.deb
