How To Install Dropbox 2.7.42 On The Most Popular Linux Systems

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you already know, Dropbox is a service that allows users to store their data on the internet, in order to use it later. And it comes with a client, for syncronising the folders from the remote server with ones from the local computer.

The latest version available is Dropbox 2.7.42 has been recently released, coming with important fixes. Among others, it comes with reduced CPU usage and disk I/O and the issues regarding “Dropbox start” and “Dropbox stop” have been removed. For more information about this release, see the changelog.

In this article I will show you how to install SteamSpeak 3.0.14 on the most popular Linux systems, including: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian, Elementary OS, Fedora, CentOS, OpenSUSE, Mageia, OpenMandriva and derivates of the listed systems.

How to install Dropbox 2.7.42 on 32 bit systems:

$ cd ~
$ wget -c https://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86-2.7.42.tar.gz
$ tar -xzvf dropbox-lnx.x86-2.7.42.tar.gz
$ cd ~/.dropbox-dist
$ sudo chmod +x dropboxd
$ ./dropboxd

How to install Dropbox 2.7.42 on 64 bit systems:

$ cd ~
$ wget -c https://dl-web.dropbox.com/u/17/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-2.7.42.tar.gz
$ tar -xzvf dropbox-lnx.x86_64-2.7.42.tar.gz
$ cd ~/.dropbox-dist
$ sudo chmod +x dropboxd
$ ./dropboxd

This is it. To launch the app, just type: $HOME/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd in a terminal and press Enter.
