How To Install FileZilla 3.10.2 On Ubuntu 14.10, Via PPA

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, FileZilla is a popular FTP client, available for Linux, Windows and Mac systems. The latest version available is FileZilla 3.10.2, which has been recently released, bringing bug-fixes:

  • When finding the local name of a remote file to be edited, use case-insensitive comparison
  • Updated SFTP components from PuTTY
  • MSW: Cleaned up runtime dependencies
  • Fix crash introduced in rc2 when there is no password element for a saved item

In this article I will show you how to install FileZilla 3.10.2 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn.

Because it is available via PPA, installing FileZilla 3.10.2 on Ubuntu 14.10 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the filezilla package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/programs-ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install filezilla

Optional, to remove filezilla, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove filezilla
