Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Gbrainy is an open-source brain teaser game, providing a bunch of different game types, including: logical puzzles, mental calculation games, memory trainers game and verbal analogies game. The latest version available is Gbrainy 2.2.3, which has been released a while ago.
In this article I will show you how to install Gbrainy 2.2.3 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, LXLE 14.04, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, Linux Lite 2.0, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya and other Ubuntu derivative systems.
Gbrainy 2.2.3 is available via the default repositories of Ubuntu 14.10, so refresh the repositories and install the gbrainy package:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gbrainy
Gbrainy 2.2.3 is not available via any repository or PPA for Ubuntu 14.04 and derivatives, we have to download the deb package from sourceforge and install it via command-line. I prefer gdebi over dpkg due to the fact that it also handles dependencies. Like this:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/gbrainy_2.2.3-1_all.deb
$ sudo gdebi gbrainy_2.2.3-1_all.deb
Optional, to remove gbrainy, on both Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 and derivatives, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove gbrainy
