Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 has been released a while ago, bringing many features and fixes to the previous version. In order to avoid some issues, the developers have disabled the “Enable Controller” option. It also got support for HTTPS, implemented on all platform.

In this article I will show you how to install Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Debian Jessie, Debian Sid, Debian Wheezy and Pear OS 8.

Because there is no ppa available, we have to download the deb packages from the official site and install them with dpkg. Follow the instructions for your system architecture, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 on 32 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Debian and Pear OS systems:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ wget http://dl.google.com/dl/earth/client/current/google-earth-stable_current_i386.deb
$ sudo gdebi google-earth-stable_current_i386.deb

How to install Google Earth 7.1.2.2019 on 64 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Debian and Pear OS systems:

$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
$ sudo apt-get install libfontconfig1:i386 libx11-6:i386 libxrender1:i386 libxext6:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libglu1-mesa:i386 libglib2.0-0:i386 libsm6:i386
$ wget http://dl.google.com/dl/earth/client/current/google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb
$ sudo gdebi google-earth-stable_current_amd64.deb

If you get ugly fonts, install the Microsoft TrueType Core Fonts:

$ sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts

    The dpkg line for 64 bits it’s wrong 🙂

    Certainly, I was able to install.
    However I it once and for all logo comes out for a moment when I started Google earth.

    I think it went fine, but can’t see it installed…i’m already trying with mint 17 (cinnammon), any suggestions?
