How To Install Guvcview 1.7.3 On Fedora 20 And Fedora 19

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Guvcview is an open source application, developed in GTK+, which enables the users to record videos or take photos via the webcam, set up the video and audio codecs to be used, or set the audio input. The latest version available is Guvcview 1.7.3, which has been recently released.

In this article I will show you how to install Guvcview 1.7.3 on Fedora 20 and Fedora 19.

Because it is available via the RPM fusion repository, install Guvcview 1.7.3 on the latest Fedora systems is easy. All you have to do is download and install the repository to your system, update the local repository index and enable the repo and install guvcview package.

Follow the instructions for your system exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Guvcview 1.7.3 on Fedora 20:

$ wget download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-20.noarch.rpm
$ sudo rpm -i rpmfusion-nonfree-release-20.noarch.rpm
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing install guvcview

Optional, to remove guvcview, do:

$ sudo yum remove guvcview

How to install Guvcview 1.7.3 on Fedora 19:

$ wget download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-19.noarch.rpm
$ sudo rpm -i rpmfusion-nonfree-release-19.noarch.rpm
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum --enablerepo=rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing install guvcview

Optional, to remove guvcview, do:

$ sudo yum remove guvcview
