How To Install Kernel 3.10.11 On Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian And Elementary OS

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the Linux Kernel 3.10.11 has been released recently. For a full list of improvements and enhancements brought to the previous version, Kernel 3.10.10, see the changelog.

In this article I will show you how to install the Linux Kernel 3.10.11 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS and Debian.

Because it is available via kernel.ubuntu.com, installing it is easy. Just follow the instructions for your system’s architecture, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Kernel 3.10.11 on 32 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Elementary OS systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.11-031011_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_all.deb
$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.11-031011-generic_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_i386.deb
$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-image-3.10.11-031011-generic_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_i386.deb

Install Kernel 3.10.11:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers* linux-image*

How to install Kernel 3.10.11 on 64 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian and Elementary OS systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.11-031011_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_all.deb
$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-headers-3.10.11-031011-generic_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_amd64.deb
$ wget -c kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.10.11-saucy/linux-image-3.10.11-031011-generic_3.10.11-031011.201309080217_amd64.deb

Install Kernel 3.10.11:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers* linux-image*

    Thanks for that Geekster,

    I tried a previous version on Mint 15 (K 3.8) without success but I’ve stepped up to Debian Jessie (with a little Sid) and decided to upgrade the kernel.

    Worked perfectly – no surprises.
