In this article I will show you how to install Kernel 3.13.11.4 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Pinguy OS, LXLE andother Ubuntu derivative systems.

Because it is not available via PPA, the needed deb packages of Kernel 3.13.11.4 are available via kernel.ubuntu.com. Follow the instructions for your system’s architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Kernel 3.13.11.4 on 32 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131104_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_all.deb
$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131104-generic_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_i386.deb
$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-image-3.13.11-03131104-generic_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_i386.deb

Install Kernel 3.13.11.4:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.13.11*.deb linux-image-3.13.11*.deb

Optional, to remove the kernel do:

$ sudo apt-get remove linux-headers-3.13.11* linux-image-3.13.11*

How to install Kernel 3.13.11.4 on 64 bit Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS systems:

Download the needed packages:

$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131104_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_all.deb
$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-headers-3.13.11-03131104-generic_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_amd64.deb
$ wget kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.13.11.4-trusty/linux-image-3.13.11-03131104-generic_3.13.11-03131104.201406201536_amd64.deb

Install Kernel 3.13.11.4:

$ sudo dpkg -i linux-headers-3.13.11*.deb linux-image-3.13.11*.deb

    Thanks for this good How To.
    Do yoo recommend additionaly to update the grub after such a kernel update, in order to be able to choose which kernel you want to boot into ?

      the sudo update-grub command is called by the packages and so, you don’t need to do that manually. just reboot and choose which kernel you want to use:)
