How To Install Liferea 1.10.13 On Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 And Derivatives

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Liferea (Linux Feed Reader) is a simple and lightweight news aggrecator with a GTK interface. Among other features, it can be synchronized with TinyTinyRSS or TheOldReader and has full support for Google Reader which reached EOL at the beginning of the month, it supports tabs and is capable of downloading feeds for online reading.

The latest version available is Liferea 1.10.13, which has been released a while ago, coming with the below changes:

  • Fixes: Wrapping issue in folder display.
  • Fixes: Avoid termination on UTF-8 validation error.
  • Fixes: Broken link in documentation.

In this article I will show you how to install Liferea 1.10.13 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, LXLE 14.04, Linux Lite 2.0 and other Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 and derivative systems.

Because it is available via PPAs, installing Liferea 1.10.13 is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the liferea package. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntuhandbook1/apps
$ sudo apt-get update

Optional, to remove liferea, do:
