How To Install MATE 1.8.2 On Ubuntu 14.10 And Ubuntu 14.04

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Mate is a Gnome 2 fork, create as an alternative to Gnome Classic (Gnome 2), when the Gnome developers decided to create Gnome 3. Mate became very popular in a short time and now is used on many Linux systems.

Recently, Mate 1.8.2 has been released, bringing bug-fixes and a bunch of changes.

In this article I will show you how to install Mate 1.8.2 on Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu Mate 14.10 Trusty Tahr and Ubuntu Mate 14.04 Trusty Tahr.

How to install Mate 1.8.2 on Ubuntu 14.10 and Ubuntu Mate 14.10:

$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/utopic-mate
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

How to install Mate 1.8.2 on Ubuntu Mate 14.04:

$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/ppa
$ sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-mate-dev/trusty-mate
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

How to install Mate 1.8.2 on Ubuntu 14.04:
