How To Install Mate On Fedora 17

If you don’t like the new Gnome, you can install the Mate Desktop Environment on your Fedora 17 Linux Box.

It is quite simple.

Step 1:
$ sudo yum install https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49862637/Mate-desktop/fedora_17/mate-desktop-fedora-updates/noarch/mate-desktop-release-17-2.fc17.noarch.rpm

Step 2:
$ sudo yum groupinstall MATE-Desktop

This was it, to switch to Mate, reboot and choose Mate from the grafical menu at startup.
