Hello Linux Geeksters, As you may know, Midori is a lightweight web browser, used with XFCE4 desktop environment. The latest version available is Midori 0.5.7, which has been recently released.
Among others, Midori 0.5.7 got a smarter session management that does not load faunly websites, private browsing got some regressions fixed and Firefox’s Close Tabs to the Right feature has been implemented.
In this article I will show you how to install Midori 0.5.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via the Midori PPA, installing Midori 0.5.7 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the midori package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:midori/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install midori
