How To Install Minetest 0.4.7 On Ubuntu 14.04/13.10/13.04/12.10/12.04, Linux Mint 16/15/14/13, Pear OS 8/7 And Elementary OS 0.2 Luna

Hello Linux Geeksters. For those who don’t know yet, Minetest is an open source Minecraft-like game. With both single player and multiplayer modes, it enables the users to craft items, walk, dig and build structures, and create new maps via the lightweight map generator. The latest version available is Minetest 0.4.7.

how to install Minetest 0.4.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

In this article I will show you how to install Minetest 0.4.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

For Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 13.10 and Linux Mint 16, Minetest 0.4.7 is available via the default repositories, so installing it is easy. Just do:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install minetestc55

For Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04, Linux Mint 15, Linux Mint 14, Linux Mint 13, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2, we have to add the Minetest stable PPA to our system, update the local repository index and install the minetest package, in order to successfully get Minetest 0.4.7 on our system. Like this:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:minetestdevs/stable
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install minetestc55
