Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Mixxx is an open-source application for DJs. Among others, it has support reading songs and playlists via iTunes, has support for over 30 DJ MIDI controllers and syncs the tempo of two songs for beatmixing. Also, the users can create a playlist and let the Auto DJ take over.
It can work with MP3, M4A/AAC, OGG, and FLAC audio, adjustable EQ shelves, timecode vinyl control, recording, and Shoutcast broadcasting.
The latest version available is Mixxx 1.11.0, which has recently released support for Ubuntu 14.04.
In this article I will show you how to install Mixxx 1.11.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna, Deepin 2014, Peppermint Five, Linux Lite 2.0, LXLE 14.04 and derivative systems.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Mixxx 1.11.0 on Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 12.04 and derivative systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the mixxx package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mixxx/mixxx
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install mixxx
Optional, to remove mixxx, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove mixxx
