Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Netflix does not work on Linux. But do not worry, there are some tweaks that can be done for you to watch movies on Netflix.

The Netflix-desktop package contains open source packages including Wine customized to run Netflix, Microsoft’s Silverlight browser plugin, needed by Netflix. The app has support for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.

In this article I will show you how to install Netflix 0.8.1 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia and Linux Mint 13 Maya.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Netflix 0.8.1 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy, all you have to do is:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ehoover/compholio
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install netflix-desktop
