Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Nightingale is an open source multimedia player, based on Songbird. The latest version available is Nightingale 1.12.1, which has been recently released, coming with bugfixes and better Unity and Gnome Shell integration.

Via the libnotify library, the users can operate the player from the Sound Menu, on Unity, Gnome Shell and XFCE.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install nightingale

How to install Nightingale 1.12.1 on Ubuntu and derivates using KDE, LXDE and XFCE:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-release
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install nightingale-nounity
