In this article I will show you how to install Plex Media Server 9.8.10 on the latest versions of Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS, Elementary OS, Fedora and CentOS.

There is no repository available, but we can easily download the needed packages from the official site and install it with the package manager. Follow the instructions for your system’s architecture exactly, in order to get a successful installation.

How to install Plex 9.8.10 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS:

Instructions for 32 bit systems:

$ wget -c downloads.plexapp.com/plex-media-server/0.9.8.10.215-020456b/plexmediaserver_0.9.8.10.215-020456b_i386.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_0.9.8.10.215-020456b_i386.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f

Instructions for 64 bit systems:

$ wget -c downloads.plexapp.com/plex-media-server/0.9.8.10.215-020456b/plexmediaserver_0.9.8.10.215-020456b_amd64.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_0.9.8.10.215-020456b_amd64.deb
$ sudo apt-get install -f

    Note to others wanting to use this how-to.

    As versions change, go to https://plex.tv/downloads and get the latest version for your distro and set it as a variable.

    E.G. doing the mint 64bit install:

    $ _ver=0.9.12.8.1362-4601e39

    $wget -c downloads.plexapp.com/plex-media-server/${_ver}/plexmediaserver_${_ver}_amd64.deb

    $ sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_${_ver}_amd64.deb

    $ sudo apt-get install -f
