Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Rygel is a media solution, allowing the users to easily share audio, video and pictures to other devices. It enables the users to browse media on PC running the GNOME Desktop environment, from other devices.
The latest version available is Rygel 0.20, which has been released just in time, in order to be used with the GNOME 3.10 desktop.
In this article I will show you how to install Rygel 0.20 Stable on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal and Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin.
Rygel 0.20 Stable will be added soon to the Stable PPA, so installing it on Ubuntu is easy. All you have to do is add the needed ppas to your system, update the local repository index and install the rygel package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yg-jensge/gupnp
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gstreamer-developers/ppa
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vala-team/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install rygel
