The latest version available is SMPlayer 0.8.6, which has been released a few days ago, bringing some improvements to the previous version. For a full list of changes, see this link. how to install SMPlayer 0.8.6 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

In this article I will show you how to install SMPlayer 0.8.6 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

Because it is available via PPA, installing SMPlayer 0.8.6 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS Luna is easy, all you have to do is:

Add the PPA:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rvm/smplayer

Update the local repo index:

$ sudo apt-get update

Install SMPlayer:
