Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Snakefire is an open source real time chat client for Campfire, written in Qt. The latest version available is Snakefire 1.0.3, which enables the users to easily upload files via drag and drop and it has support for notifications .
In this article I will show you how to install Snakefire 1.0.3 on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pinguy OS 14.04, Pinguy OS 12.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Isis and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it is available via PPA, installing Snakefire 1.0.3 on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pinguy OS and Elementary OS systems is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the snakefire package. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rael-gc/snakefire
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install snakefire
Also, for KDE based systems, also install the snakefire-kde package:
$ sudo apt-get install snakefire-kde
Optional, to remove snakefire, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove snakefire*
