How To Install Stellarium 0.12.3 On Ubuntu 13.10, 13.04, 12.10, 12.04, Linux Mint 15, 14, 13 And Elementary OS 0.2 Luna

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Stellarium is a free open-source planetarium app that gives massive amount of functionlities to every planetarium maniac. The latest version available is Stellarium 0.12.3, which has been recently released. For a full list of features and improvements, see the release announcement.

In this article I will show you how to install Stellarium 0.12.3 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.

Because it is available via PPA, installing Stellarium 0.12.3 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Elementary OS is easy. All you have to do is add the PPA to the system, update the local repository index and install the stellarium package:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:stellarium/stellarium-releases
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install stellarium
