Hello Linux Geeksters. It looks like Canonical keeps up the good work, in order to release Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander in Octomber, despite the fact that they have a busy schedule, working hard on getting Mir ready and at the Ubuntu Edge past campaign.
Yearly, the community votes the 18 default wallapapers that will land in the next Ubuntu release. In this article I will show you how to download and install the Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander wallpapers, selected as default.
Because the wallpaper pack is available as a deb package, all you have to do is:
$ wget -c https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-unity/+archive/daily-build/+build/4901205/+files/ubuntu-wallpapers-saucy_13.04.0%2B13.10.20130823-0ubuntu1_all.deb
$ sudo dpkg -i ubuntu-wallpapers-saucy*.deb
The wallpapers will be stored in: usr/share/backgrounds
This wallpaper pack can be also installed on other Linux systems having support for deb packages, including: Linux Mint, Elementary OS, Debian or Crunchbang OS.
