Among others, it fixes 58 bugs, brings support for Nvidia GTX 660M and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 graphics cards, comes with improved the support for iTunes 7, MS Excel 2010, Altium Designer 10, Nullsoft installer, QuiteRSS, and RTX server.
Also, it brings better compatibility to the following Windows games: Neverwinter Nights 2, Torchlight 2, Anno 1602, Sins of a Solar Empire, Louisiana Adventure, League of Legends, The Ur-Quan Masters, Jagged Alliance 2, and Spin Tires
In this article I will show you how to install Wine 1.6.1 stable on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Pear OS 8, Pear OS 7 and Elementary OS 0.2 Luna.
Because it will be soon available via the Wine PPA, installing Wine 1.6.1 stable on the listed Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Pear OS and Elementary OS is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa to your system, update the local repository index and install the wine1.7 and winetricks packages. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.6 winetricks
