The fourth release candidate of Wine 1.6, Wine 1.6 RC4 has been released with many bugfixes, brought to the previous version, Wine RC3 . A full list of improvements can be found in the official announcement.

Installing Wine 1.6 RC4 on Ubuntu and Linux Mint is easy, because it is available via PPA:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.6 winetricks

    Command not found message. WONDERFUL! Time for a new link that is up to date and actually works. This is almost as bad as the ObamaCare website. Almost.

      dude, this article is more than half year old. after you have added the ppa and update the local repository index, do:

      $ sudo apt-get install wine1.7 winetricks
