Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Wine is a popular software, for installing Windows programs on Linux systems. The latest version available is Wine 1.7.4, which comes with fixes and improved compatibility for the following Windows games: Neverwinter Nights 2, URU Complete Chronicles, Split Second, Arcanum, BabasChess, Minitroid, The Witcher, Guild Wars 2, Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Beta, and NCsoft’s Aion (MMORPG).
In this article I will show you how to install Wine 1.7.4 on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander, Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolon, Linux Mint 16 Petra, Linux Mint 15 Olivia, Linux Mint 14 Nadia, Linux Mint 13 Maya, Elementary OS 0.2 Luna and Pear OS 8.
Because it will be soon added to the Wine PPA, installing Wine 1.7.4 on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS and Pear OS is easy. All you have to do is add the ppa, update the local repository index and install the wine and winetricks packages. Like this:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install wine1.7 winetricks
