DigiKam 4.14.0 (Open-Source Photo Management Software) Has Been Released

As you may know, DigiKam is a photo management application, designed for importing, organizing and exporting digital photos to your computer. It has a simple and fast interface. It also has a quick Image Editor,and allows you to comment, rate, correct or alter photos.

The latest version available is DigiKam 4.14.0, which brings a huge list of fixes.

Installation instructions:

In order to successfully install DigiKam, we have to add the needed PPAs (depending on our DE), update the local repository index and install the digikam packge.

Install DigiKam on Ubuntu systems using KDE:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/extra
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam

Install DigiKam on non-KDE Ubuntu systems:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip5/kubuntu-backports
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install digikam

Optional, to remove digikam, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove digikam

The installation instructions should work on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela, Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca, Linux Mint 17 Qiana, Pinguy OS 14.04, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya, Deepin 2014, Peppermint 6, Peppermint 5, LXLE 14.04 and Linux Lite 2.
