    For Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty, 15.04 Vivid and 15.10 Wily I believe you would be better off using my Launchpad PPA:

    $ sudo apt-get install ppa:anton+/photo-video-apps
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install freefilesync

    My PPA builds upon the official ‘FreeFileSync Releases’ PPA which is ppa:freefilesync/ffs . However this later PPA only has builds for Trusty and Wily and not yet the latest version (only 7.7).

    I did add this:

    * Add –parallel option to build.
