How To Install Haguichi 1.3.0 on Fedora 22, Fedora 21, OpenSUSE 13.2 and OpenSUSE 13.1

As you may know, Hamachi is very useful for connecting to or more computers, over the internet, in a LAN network. I use it on Windows to play Age of Empires with friends, for example.

Haguichi is a graphical frontend for Hamachi 2, on Linux systems. Haguichi is open source so, there are no licence problems. The latest Haguichi 1.3, which has been recently released, coming with the below changes:

  • The software has been ported to GTK+3 and Vala
  • Added short text to empty network list on how to add a network.
  • A new Headerbar has been implemented
  • A new logo is now used
  • The sidebar now shows details and actions for the selected
  • Added symbolic application and panel icons for adwaita-icon-theme.
  • Commands that don’t actually exist are not shown as member action anymore.
  • Unicode characters are now used for ellipsis and quotation marks.
  • Changed autostart .desktop file installation path back to /usr/etc/xdg/autostart.
  • Dropped support for Hamachi version 2.1.0.81 and older.
  • Removed deprecated status icon.
  • Updated Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Dutch, German, Italian, Kazakh, Polish, Russian, Slovak,
  • Spanish and Ukrainian translations.

Installation instructions:

Up to date packages are available via some third party repositories, so installing the software on Fedora and OpenSUSE systems should not cause too many problems. Follow the instructions for your system exactly and everything should run smoothly.

How to install Haguichi on Fedora 22:

$ cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
$ sudo wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ztefn/Fedora_22/home:ztefn.repo
$ sudo dnf update
$ sudo dnf install haguichi

Optional, to remove haguichi, do:

$ sudo dnf remove haguichi

How to install Haguichi on Fedora 21:

$ cd /etc/yum.repos.d/
$ sudo wget http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ztefn/Fedora_21/home:ztefn.repo
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum install haguichi

Optional, to remove haguichi, do:

$ sudo yum remove haguichi

How to install Haguichi on OpenSUSE 13.2:

$ sudo zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ztefn/openSUSE_13.2/home:ztefn.repo
$ sudo zypper refresh
$ sudo zypper install haguichi

Optional, to remove haguichi, do:

$ sudo zypper remove haguichi

How to install Haguichi on OpenSUSE 13.1:

$ sudo zypper addrepo http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:ztefn/openSUSE_13.1/home:ztefn.repo
$ sudo zypper refresh
$ sudo zypper install haguichi

Optional, to remove haguichi, do:

$ sudo zypper remove haguichi
