Install Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Linux Mint 13 and Linux Mint 14

The Mozilla Team has just launched a new version of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1. To install Mozilla Firefox 18.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Linux Mint 13 or Linux Mint 14, you have to make an installation from sources.

Just follow this steps to install Mozilla Firefox on your Linux Box:

Step 1. Download the firefox*.bz2 :

$ wget https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/firefox_18.0.1%2Bbuild1.orig.tar.bz2

Step 2. Extract the archive:

$ $ tar -xjvf firefox*

Step 3. Do the propper configurations:

$ cd firefox*
$ ./configure

Step 4. Compile the sources:

$ sudo make

Step 5. Install the application:

$ sudo make install

When you do the steps 3 4 and 5, it is very possible that you get some errors, like package X needed for … . Fix the errors you get and than repeat the step, you can continue only after you fix all the errors.

Step 6. Clean the temporary created files:

$ sudo make clean
