How To Install Pithos 1.1.1 On Fedora 22 And Fedora 21 Systems

As you may know, Pithos is a client of the music, which service available in USA, Australia and New Zealand only.

The latest version available is Pithos 1.1.1, which has been released a while ago, bringing changes and fixes:

  • Redesign plugin preferences
  • Fix locking up when buffering a song
  • Make pylast an optional plugin
  • Make MPRIS an optional plugin
  • Update various icons
  • Minor performance improvements
  • MPRIS: Add property introspection
  • MPRIS: Add song rating pithos:rating
  • Notify: Fix escaping text when not needed

Installation instructions:

Installing the latest version of Pithos on Fedora 22 and Fedora 21 systems is easy. All you have to do is add the RPM Fusion Free and Non Free repositories to your system, update the repository index and install the pithos package.

How to install Pithos on Fedora 22 (via DNF):

$ sudo rpm -Uvh
$ sudo rpm -Uvh
$ sudo dnf update
$ sudo dnf install pithos

Optional, to remove pithos, do:

$ sudo dnf remove pithos

How to install Pithos on Fedora 21 (via YUM):

$ sudo rpm -Uvh
$ sudo rpm -Uvh
$ sudo yum update
$ sudo yum install pithos

Optional, to remove pithos, do:

$ sudo yum remove pithos
