How To Install Pithos 1.1.1 on Ubuntu 15.04 Via PPA

As you may know, Pithos is a client of the music, which service available in USA, Australia and New Zealand only.

The latest version available is Pithos 1.1.1, which has been released a while ago, bringing changes and fixes:

  • Redesign plugin preferences
  • Fix locking up when buffering a song
  • Make pylast an optional plugin
  • Make MPRIS an optional plugin
  • Update various icons
  • Minor performance improvements
  • MPRIS: Add property introspection
  • MPRIS: Add song rating pithos:rating
  • Notify: Fix escaping text when not needed

Installation instructions:

Up to date packages are available via some third party PPA, so installing the software on Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet is easy. Just add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the pithos package:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pithos/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install pithos

Optional, to remove pithos, do:

$ sudo apt-get remove pithos
