As you may know, pkTriggerCord in an open-source application that enables the users to control the camera (connected by USB) via the computer. The app is ideal for taking pictures, reading status information and changing camera settings directly from the computer.
It has official support only for the Pentax cameras: Pentax K-x, Pentax K10D (Samsung GX-10), Pentax K20D (Samsung GX-20), Pentax K200D, Pentax K-7, Pentax K-r, Pentax K-5, Pentax K-m / K2000, Pentax K-30, Pentax K-01 (bugs), Pentax K-5 II / K-5 IIs.
The latest version is pkTriggerCord 0.83.00, which has been recently released, bringing fixes only.
The latest pkTriggerCord versions are available via Dariusz Duma’s PPA, so installing it on Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf, Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, Linux Mint 17.x, Elementary OS 0.3 Freya and other derivatives is easy. Just add the PPA to your system, update the local repository index and install the pktriggercord package:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dhor/myway
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install pktriggercord
Optional, to remove pktriggercord, do:
$ sudo apt-get remove pktriggercord
