Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) Will Be Called “Betsy” And Will Be Available In Different Color Schemes, Not Only Green

Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, the Linux Mint developers have decided to switch the source code from Debian Testing to Debian Stable, for their Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE), a while ago.

The next Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 2), codenamed “Betsy”, will be based on Debian Jessie.

LMDE 2 is still in its early development stages. For now, the developers are setting up the repositories and porting various packages. Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 “Betsy” (LMDE 2) is scheduled for release on November, this year.

Also worth mentioning, the developers are also working at creating an official upgrade path from UP8 (the previous LMDE system) to Betsy.

The developers have also announced that Linux Mint will be released in different colors, not only green, meaning that the theme and icon colors will be also changed. The new colors will be available for both Mate and Cinnamon desktop environments and the changes will be applied to both LMDE and Linux Mint 17.x versions.
