Linux News: Kubuntu 13.10 Beta 1 Has Been Released

Because Ubuntu Saucy is very close, so is Kubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander. A while ago, the developers have announced the immediate availability for Kubuntu 13.10 Beta 1.

Linux News: Kubuntu 13.10 Beta 1 Has Been Released

Kubuntu 13.10 Beta 1 uses Kernel 3.11, comes with KDE 4.11, a brand new wireless setup, a new Network Manager applet, bringing a more intuitive user interface, Mout Discover has been added in order to allow the user to easily discover and install apps.

Also, Xen and KVM virtualization support has been added for the 64 bit ARM architecture (AArch64). For more information, see this link.

It’s work reminding that Kubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander continues to use the X.org display server. Kubuntu may switch to Canonical’s Mir, on Kubuntu 14.04, when the Ubuntu developers will drop the X.org support for good, and make Mir good enought to work with all the graphics drivers.
