Hello Linux Geeksters. As you may know, Canonical has implemented Kernel 3.13.1 as default, on Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr last week. Now, the developers are testing Kernel 3.14 RC3 on Ubuntu 14.04.
Canonical’s plan is to integrate the latest stable version available of the Linux Kernel, in order to have support for the latest hardware components. Also, Ubuntu 12.04.5 will be using Kernel 3.14.
This is what Joseph Salisbury said in the mailing lists:
“We have packaged our 3.13.0-9.29 Trusty kernel and uploaded to our canonical-kernel-team ppa. This primarily pulls in the latest v3.13.3 upstream stable updates. We have also started tracking the v3.14 kernel and have recently rebased our unstable branch to v3.14-rc3,”
As a reminder, the first stable version of Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, but even so, Ubuntu 14.04 is usable already, being the best release in Canonical’s history.
