The Fedora Developers Are Discussing Whether To Add Chromium To The Default Repos Or Not

As many of you may already know, Chromium is the open-source version of Chrome, maintained by Google.

For now, Chromium is not added to the default Fedora repositories because it does not respect the distro’s policy about bundling of system libraries, but some developers are already working towards achieving this. The issue is caused by the fact that Chromium depends on its own libraries and FFmpeg, which is also absent from the repos.

Despite it does not complies with the rules, Fedora bends them with Firefox, which is the default internet browser of the system.

For those wanting Chrome/Chromium on Fedora right now, there is this Copr repository and Google’s official Chrome RPMs will work on Fedora.
