The First Jolla Smartphone Runs With Wayland

Jolla, pronounced “yoh-lah”, a company created by former Nokia developers has announced their first smartphone a while ago.

As you may already know, Jolla is a daring project, since it uses Sailfish OS, a Meego Linux derivate, in order to be compartible with the Android apps. Also, as a display server, it uses Wayland, with some tweakings, to make it have support also for Android GPU drivers. The Jolla developers Twitted that “our first Jolla will ship with Wayland”, before the end of 2013.
